Obama’s Honeymoon Is Nearing Its End

By Common Sense Republican

I guess it is safe to say that the honeymoon Obama has been on since his election to the presidency is running out of time. As is always the case with the American people, eventually they come around to their senses. Obama has been trying diligently to ramrod his legislation through congress while he still has the political capital and backing of the American people to do it. He is starting to encounter some significant resistance though.

Now that we have been in this collective economic mess for some time, the average American is starting to lose his patience with the Obama administration. The average American is starting to get really fed up with the lack of jobs and lack of economic growth our country is facing. Rightfully or wrongfully, people are beginning to spread the blame a little bit over to the Obama administration for not pulling us out of the doldrums.

Politics is a vicious beast. Maybe, just maybe some people had unrealistic expectations for Obama’s magic powers. They thought that with a change at the top office in government, there would be this sudden reversal of misfortune. Low and behold, reality has hit home. The truth is that most policies enacted by the president and/or congress take some time to really begin to show up in the numbers. These changes can be extremely powerful, but they don’t show their end results for quite some time. You might get short term reactions, boosts and bumps, but the real changes occur over a long period of time. Now Obama is stuck trying to comfort impatient Americans who want nothing more than instant gratification. Good luck pal. Have fun with that.

People are starting to come around to their senses

It seems that now that everyone has had a little time to let the pain of this weak economy set in, they are starting to think with clearer heads again. They are starting to remember a few of the fundamental principles that this great nation was founded on like low taxation and liberty. They are starting to remember the cries of those two hundred plus year old original American revolutionaries who denounced taxation without representation. They are starting to realize that the policies proposed by this Obama administration are socialist to the core and will cause the cost of living of every single working American to go through the roof.

Cap & Trade is a bad idea

The effect of implementing a program like Cap & Trade is going to be a massive increase in the cost of electricity. If you think people are mad now, wait until their monthly electricity bills double. Then you’ll really here some bitching. It is crazy to enact something that will essentially tax every working American through increased electricity prices.

It is unfathomable that in a country like the Unites States that is so rich in natural resources, especially coal and natural gas that we don’t focus on using these two huge sources of energy to begin reducing our demand on foreign oil. This bunch of yoyos is so hung up on solar and wind power that they are willing to throw out good logic. Investing in solar and wind is fine, but it should not be done by taxing our most plentiful and cheapest forms of energy right now. This country needs to find cheaper and more efficient ways of producing its energy, not increase the costs of our current methods of energy production. What a bunch of damn fools.

Every action they take that causes our costs to go higher makes this country even less competitive on a global scale. Here we are whining about all of these jobs going overseas. Now these boneheads want to make it even more expensive for companies to do business here by driving up their energy costs. It is downright retarded.

Obama’s Healthcare Initiative Is a Bad Idea

As far as this national healthcare program goes, there is no way in hell that the Federal government’s involvement in it at any capacity is going to drive costs down. If you think so you are sorely mistaken. Show me one single case where this has been true in any country anywhere in history. Oh wait, I just thought of one. We could enslave the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers and make them work for free.

There is simply no better way to reduce costs than the free market system. Government involvement is guaranteed to drive healthcare costs through the roof while the quality of care diminishes. It is guaranteed. If the government is going to make everyone get healthcare insurance then it should be done through a mandate affecting every single American. The government should outline what illnesses must be covered. An insurance company’s refusal to cover those services should then be illegal. Then everyone should pay for their own insurance just like they pay for social security. They should be able to opt out if they prove they have purchased coverage. There should not be any government funded pool for the uninsured. The playing field should be leveled. Make it illegal to not have insurance just as it is illegal to not pay your taxes.

Our government should sue Mexico to cover any healthcare provided to any of its citizens who enter this country illegally. If Mexico doesn’t like it they should take measures to prevent their citizens from illegally invading our nation’s borders. We should also take measures to prevent the illegal invasion of Mexicans into our country.

We simply cannot afford as a nation to give away more benefits to people who don’t work. People need to provide for themselves or suffer the consequences of their irresponsibility. People need to stop relying on a government for everything that isn’t convenient.
