Get ready for a bailout for General Motors
As the economy continues to worsen here in October 2008, it is becomming more evident that the government will probably bail out the failing United States auto industry. The Federal Government is just too scared to let market forces run their course. Politicians are scared of the fallout that will most certainly occur if they let these giants go into bankruptcy. The job losses would be shocking. So instead, our bleeding heart government is going to take money from us taxpayers again, to prop up companies with disasterous business models.
Why do I say disasterous? Because, for years our beloved American auto manufacturers have been losing market share to much leaner companies that produce higher quality products for half the cost. Predominantly due to the United Auto Worker’s Union, the once proud symbols of American ingenuity have bloated the salarys and benefits of their employees to a point where it is just not possible to compete with the rest of the world. These people in Detroit still don’t get it. This is a global economy like it or not. You can’t change that.
The real solution here is to let the Chrylser, General Motors and Ford get their own act together. These companies are owned and operated by Americans. Yet, they are losing the battle to foreign competition in an industry where 90% of Americans would rather purchase from the big three. It’s just that Detroit has failed miserably over the last decade to anticipate the buying habits of average Americans. How ridiculous is that? If an American company can’t figure out what Americans want, what right do they have to even be in business? I hope these idiots don’t end up going to work for McDonalds. They’ll convince management to start selling filet mignon instead of hamburgers. Nobody will buy it. Then the millions of McDonalds franchises across the United States will go under too.
Let them fail! Then some visionary entrpreneurs can start new American auto companies that don’t cater to unions and actually build products that people like us want to buy.
