Republican Blog

Common Sense Republican is a republican blog which discusses political issues facing Americans.

On this blog we will discuss the Republican views on abortion, taxes, government, economy, foreign-policy, energy-policy, healthcare, gun-control & social security. We will also discuss current elections as well as Democrat views on various topics.

It is my intention to inject a little common sense into the topics, hence the name Common Sense Republican, and justify why I and others like me hold the beliefs that we do. Although we are predominantly conservative people, we are not all religious fanatics. We are simply hard working people who love our country, love our families and cherish our friends. We want to live in a country where our young people grow up smart, happy, dream of and accomplish big achievements and pass that environment on to their children.

Republican Philosophy - Misguided Democrats

Most of the major differences between Democrats & Republicans lie in the time frame with which the person considers the issue, its problems or its solutions. On the vast majority of issues, we all desire the same outcome. It is merely our opinions on how to achieve that outcome that differs so greatly and creates all of the conflict. Politicians and the main stream media fail to highlight this point. Once you realize this, my friends, you will begin to see the Democrats as being misguided well intentioned people rather than your enemies.

There are of course exceptions to this. Some of them are down-right idiotic power mongers. I bet you never hear a Democrat refer to a Republican as being misguided. That is because, they believe people are inherently greedy and will exploit each other without limitations for their own personal gain. They don’t see us as being misguided. They see us as mean and greedy people who want everything for ourselves and care less about anyone else. I shall point out throughout this blog, that this is completely untrue. Our ideology is founded on basic human values, basic economic principles, history and common sense.

The Republican philosophy is one that considers what is in the best long term interests of our country.  The Democrats tend to be very short sighted in their policy decisions.  This short sightedness leads to situations where congress is constantly trying to find a quick fix for this or that.  Congress has a tendency to use a bulldozer to do a job that could have been done better by two men with shovels.

We Republicans prefer a steady handed approach to getting the long term direction of our country on track and letting the natural business cycles ebb and flow along the way.  We would rather reduce red tape and unnecessary regulation in order to get out of the way of growing businesses.  We believe that governments are too wasteful and inefficient to be overly involved in the lives of the citizens.  We believe in returning power back to the people.  They can govern themselves locally far better than some bureaucrat in Washington DC.
